For a recent project with the Sligo Food Trail, we acted as organiser on a collaboration between top Sligo Chefs and producers for the Failte Ireland Taste the Island event, the Harvest Feast. It was a pleasure working with this talented group of individuals who all joined forces to get to the main event. We communicated closely with the Sligo Food Trail committee, Chef Shane Smith and the whole team at Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa in Sligo to ensure this event was as successful as the 2017 event.
The Harvest Feast took place on Friday October 18th and consisted of a nine-course tasting menu created by Sligo based chefs; Marcin Szczodrowski from Eala Bhán Restaurant, Alan Fitzmaurice from The Glasshouse, Joe Shannon from Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Chris Friel from Sligo Park Hotel, Marc Gallagher from Sligo Wellness Centre, Yvonne Kathrein from Waterfront House Hotel and Joe McGlynn from Hooked.
Aisling Kelly of the Sligo Oyster Experience at WB’s and Neil Byrne of Mammy Johnston’s represented the producers of Sligo Food Trail while other members got involved and supported the event by suppling products for the drink’s reception, canapés and accompaniments.
The event took 12 weeks of preparation and coordinating to ensure that Sligo’s foodies were treated to an amazing dining experience that celebrated the county’s rich heritage for fresh seasonal organic and local produce. We were delighted to welcome Failte Ireland CEO Paul Kelly and his wife Mary, Director of Marketing Niall Tracey to the event.
It’s amazing to see the talent and produce on offer in Sligo and we look forward to the next event in the Sligo Food Trail calendar. Check out their calendar and tours here.
